On November 5, 2024, the Nellie McClung Foundation hosted its highly anticipated 20th Anniversary Luncheon at the prestigious Fairmont Hotel. This milestone event brought together community leaders, advocates, and supporters to celebrate two decades of empowering women and girls in Manitoba through the ‘Yes I Can’ Leadership initiative.
A Celebration of Legacy and Future Leadership
The luncheon was not just a commemoration of past accomplishments but also a call to action for the future. Guests were treated to an inspiring fireside conversation featuring The Honourable Janice C. Filmon, C.M., O.M., former Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba and founding Chair of the Nellie McClung Foundation, alongside Anne Mahon.

Raising Funds to Empower Future Leaders
The event also served as a crucial fundraising initiative to support the ‘Yes I Can’ Leadership program. This initiative aims to provide mentorship, resources, and opportunities for young women in Manitoba, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to become leaders in various fields.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees and sponsors, the luncheon successfully raised significant funds that will directly contribute to expanding leadership programs, scholarships, and community engagement opportunities. The overwhelming support reaffirmed the collective commitment to continuing Nellie McClung’s legacy of equality and empowerment.

A Community United in Purpose
As the Nellie McClung Foundation embarks on the next chapter of its mission, the success of the 20th Anniversary Luncheon serves as a reminder that change is possible when people come together with a shared vision. The future is bright for aspiring leaders in Manitoba, and with continued support, the ‘Yes I Can’ Leadership initiative will empower even more women to step forward and lead.
